Lilith

Lilith is the daughter of Kazeja and the only female Nephalim born to the rebel angels. She is not only unique in that she is female, but she also possesses a set of wings and lighter bone structure that allows her to fly. She has a tall slender frame and flaming red hair along with the typical Nephalim features. She, like her father, prefers the night and is not as well known in Eden. She keeps herself busy serving her father in his laboratory.

It is her job to dispose of those who no longer are fit to serve her father or those who are marked to be tortured. She takes great pleasure in her job and does her best to make the process as painful as possible. She prefers the crossbow when flying and her flame tongue designed sword when on the ground. She also carries a metal whip, which is covered in razor sharp barbs.

Lilith is dark and twisted, holding no loyalty to anyone but her father. She posseses a bloodlust for pain, suffering, and misery to mankind. Like Cemelshanah, the few that know of her fear her. Those who meet her see her as an angel of death.

Chemelshanah

Chemelshanah is one of the Nephalim. He is the son of Asbel and one of the women of Habahrem. He has the typical tall, slender build and chiseled features of a Nephlim. He also has gray toned skin color with whitish-gray hair and two different colored eyes. He has been trained in the art of fighting, poisons, stealth, and torture. Like all of the Nephalim he is filled with cruelty.

Once he became old enough, Chemelshanah was recruited by his father to head the Ragal. The Ragal are the secret service of Razmadda. All the children born to Chemelshanah are automatically conscripted into the Ragal service. This ensures that the guild is solely made up of those with some degree of angelic blood in them.

Chemelshanah and the Ragal under him are assigned to weed out those who oppose, or might oppose the rule of the Iyr. Ultimately, it is his job to make sure that the Ragal effectively make these rebels disappear. He has no regard for life, no hint of mercy, and takes no excuses for failure. However, he longs for his father to accept him and his accomplishments.

For the few people in Rasmadda who are aware of the true purpose of the Ragal, he is an evil shadow lurking in every street corner and the cold chill that causes the hair on your neck to stand.

Jeqon

Jeqon is the personal assistant to Shemihazah. It is his job to keep the Seraph up to date on the affairs of those under him. He also brings Shemihazah news deemed interesting from the world of man. Like his master he does not care for his 'dismal' job and longs for a life that does not include serving mankind. He thinks it unfair that man is favored more than the angels. He also feels that the Almighty is unjust in His actions. Like Asbel, he is a cautious angel, fearing The Almighty's wrath and punishment if what he truly feels is found out.

Jeqon's unauthorized visit to Eden begins the story.

Jeqon is viewed as nothing more than Shemihazah's errand boy by some in Shemihazah's circle, but it is his ability to speak persuasively that is used to help convince the council to take the risk of creating their own kingdom in Eden. After the descent, his role does not change. He is still tasked with keeping Shemihazah informed about the state of Razmadda, Siriad, the conflict in the heavenly realm between Halel and Michael, and the doings of those who formally served on his heavenly council.

Asbel

Asbel is the earthly angel who serves directly under Ozael. He is charged with making sure that those operating in Eden are where they should be and doing their job, along with his own job of 'watching'. Most of Asbel's time is spent in Eden and at the Apex. He is only allowed in the heavenly city where Shemihazah and the others reside when specially summoned. Usually this only occurs when the council needs to take action and his testimony is needed at a council meeting.

Asbel has seen how men lust after women and developed the same desire. Like many of Shemihazah's council, he became more vocal in private sessions about the 'unfairness' of mankind's position as time has moved forward. Eager to posses the pleasures of man and 'freedom' from The Almighty, he willing agrees to the rebellion.

After his arrival to Eden he is placed in charge of a network of fallen 'watchers' on earth to keep tabs on those under their authority and to monitor those in the heavenly realm upon Eden. He operates in the shadows of Eden, doing the will of Shemihazah and Ozael alike. His views tend towards Ozael's, but he is more cautious in playing both sides. Little changes for Asbel after the rebellion. He has no city he calls home; he is still prone to spend time wandering; and he is still tasked to do the dirty work of the council.

Kazeja

Kazeja is a peculiar angel that whose Heavenly job was to log information that was gathered by the Eden Watchers under Shemihazah's division. However, to him the job was completely boring and drab, so he spent much of his free time trying to understand how carbon based life is created and potentially altered. He is one of the handful who helped orchestrate the rebellion.

Kazeja's obsession with genetics and his disdain for mankind has caused him to become a bit of a mad scientist. He sees mankind as nothing more than a tool in his hand. After the decent to Eden, he settles is the city of Goalehadem where animosity for the injustice of Abel's death still resides. Using the people's lust for blood he creates a place where he can experiment without censure on those deemed to be undesirable. To mask his true intentions to the general public he uses what he learns to help Materael advance knowledge of the human body to cure it of the ailments brought about by the fall. Kazeja really offers nothing more to the people of Eden beyond suffering and death. If his co-conspirators would allow him, he would proclaim this fact openly.

19 March 2014

Ozael

Ozael is the angel who is second in command under Shemihazah. His job in the heavenly realm was to manage the angels that did the 'watching' as well as disciplining rogue angels. He is skilled in forging arms and armor. It was his closeness with those working in Eden along with persuasion from Halel, that turned his dislike of humans into a hatred for mankind. He became one of the major players that pushed the angelic council under Shemihazah to abandon their heavenly posts. He is a bit hot tempered, but he does a good job of disguising it among his comrades. He is cold and calculating and does not like being denied what he feels due to him. In the end, he will do anything it takes to get his due.

After their arrival into Eden, Ozael was put in charge of leading the group to persuade the land of Havilah to submit themselves to the angels' rule. Ozael continued his art of metallurgy in the city of Metsed, teaching man how to make more advanced weapons and armor. Later he decides it is time to persuade Siriad to come into the angelic alliance.

Ozael is a bit of a wild cannon, and this becomes more evident after the arrival to Eden. Because of his distance from Shemihazah's city of Habrahem, he becomes bolder in taking the initiative for pursuing his goals.

Author's notes on Abigail

Abigail is the wife of Jared and the daughter of Othaniel. She is both beautiful and adventurous. She lost her mother when she was very young to one of the corrupt okale, which caused her father to teach her the skills of combat alongside her brothers. Jared saw her frequently at the training facility and they eventually came together as kindred hearts. Although she has always been a bit of a tomboy, she retains a certain elegance.

She is strong, but submissive. However, she is also very curious. This curiosity and strong will are what allow her to be admitted to the group. Unlike Jared and Ahmen, who bring extensive fighting skills, Yahir, who brings his merchant contacts and his knowledge, Aras, who brings medical skill, or Pethe who bring unflinching courage and brawn, Abigail has little to offer other than that she is a woman and will help their cover. She balances the all male group and brings compassion to it.

Author's notes on Aras

Aras is the identical twin brother of Pethe, but unlike his brother, he is not known for his brawn or his bravery. Aras grew up a bit of a homebody at spent most of his time helping his mother attend to the needs of those who were injured or ill while logging with his father. He is a worrier and generally expects the worst out of any situation. Though not much help logging or on the battlefield, Aras does have his good qualities. He is a skilled physician and has knowledge of many different plants and trees, as well as numerous animals that inhabit Eden.

Like his brother, Aras is viewed by many as a liability on the mission into Razmadda, and the antics between Pethe and Aras, though humorous, tend to draw too much attention to the party. Aras believes that he always has to try to keep his naive brother from causing or getting into trouble and is constantly frustrated by Pethe's actions. Like his brother, Aras, in the end proves his worth. Aras is an individual whose fear does not allow him to put full trust in the Almighty. This journey will push him to his limits.

Author's notes - Yahir

Yahir is another member of the group of spies sent into Razmadda. He is a practical man with long hair, a slender frame, and ever learning eyes. He is intelligent in a gadgety sort of way. He likes finding out how things work and is always on the lookout for new inventions. Sometimes his intellect causes him to overlook the obvious, getting him in trouble at times. Because of his father's association with Enosh, Yahir becomes the head of Siriad's secret spy network.

In terms of group dynamics, every group needs a guy who thinks he has everything planned out but then life throws a curveball at him. He is a bit of a nationalist but does not share the faith of Siriad's leader. Although good natured, he relies on himself instead of the Almighty.

10 March 2014

Author's notes - Pethe

Pethe has natural strength from a life helping his father as a lumberjack. His home city is Meshfaht. He is known as an excellent wrestler and has been known to even grapple some of the corrupted Okale that are constantly harrasing loggers within the forest.

Though he is strong and strong at heart, he is viewed by many as naive and a bit stupid. He is far more likely to rush into something headstrong than to think things through. In spite of his shortcomings he is a trustworthy friend who is willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of others. He also has a strong faith in 'The Almighty.' Some might view his faith as childish or 'blind.' Despite his hardships, Pethe always believes The Almighty knows what He is doing and is active in in the affairs of Eden. Pethe is an identical twin to Aras, and is constantly protecting him.

Pethe is a likable character who provides comic relief. He is says and does humorous things, he is pure of heart, and brave. Still, his companions view him as a liability. He has no deception in him and this makes it difficult as the spies travel through Eden.

08 March 2014

Ahmen - Author's notes

Ahman is a complex character. He is a man that, by appearance, many would expect him to deal with situations using his brawn, but he does not. Instead, he is a kind man with a strong loyalty to the people he has promised to protect, including his beloved wife Ariel and his comrade in arms, Jared. He is cautious and thoughtful, not wanting to rush head long into unknown situations. Even though he is about the same age as Jared, he possesses a more mature faith in the one true God. He is one of the sturdy pillars that helps guide Jared and the other adventurers through their journey into Razmadda.

Ahman is the counterweight to Jared. They have a close relationship, because of their years of service together, working to ensure the security of Siriad. They have fought many conflicts together against okale and have even survived a few skirmishes with Saggisera that wander to close to the northeast border of Siriad. Along with Mahalalel (Jared's father) and Abigail (Jared's wife), Ahman has helped to develop Jared's faith and trust in the 'Almighty'. His name means 'trustworthy, (or loyal/ loyalty) and his character reflects that in the way he views his companions. He represents those who have developed that closeness with God but have a more reserved faith. Don't be fooled, though, he is not perfect. He is still working on putting his faith in God during times of weaknesses and doubt.

First chapter of book: Coming Soon!

So, we are planning on self-publishing The Corruption by the end of March. To help celebrate, we will post the entire first chapter in serial form on this blog throughout the month of April. Be looking for it!

05 March 2014

Shemihazah

As a Seraph, Shemihazah is the leader of those that chose to abandon their posts in the heavenly realm and come to earth to enjoy the physical pleasures that it offered. Unlike most of the common angels, he has six wings, instead of two, and the head of a silver and white eagle.

After it is decided that he and his companions will go to earth, he teaches mankind the magical arts (i.e. how to call upon the services of fallen angels withing the spiritual realm). He still maintains his authority as the lead angel after they settle into Eden, but his sway weakens as time progresses.

After their encounter with man, Shemihazah morphed his eagle head into that similar to his human looking brothers. He also exchanged his angelic clothing for elaborate robes. However, he still keeps his staff from the heavenly realms, since it helps him to maintain and magnify his angelic powers.

Shemihazah is a nice bad guy. He takes his role as leader seriously. He does not have quite the open animosity toward humans that some of the other angels do. Nor does he openly consort with Halel. He is also a wise and calculating angel. Although he does not posses a quick temper, when he is angered, his wrath can  be quite painful.
